WHO ARE WE? The vision: “A place where people care.” Our Mission Statement: “The mission of Bethany Lutheran Church is to encourage prayer, worship and the study of God’s Word so that we can grow in our commitment to Christ to reach out, in Christ’s name, into the community and the world.” We seek to love and care for people. To let all know they are accepted just as they are. Our care continues with sharing the love and the life of Jesus Christ. This faith community is warm, accepting, and out-going to those who are new, and affirming and caring as well to all. There is a special emphasis on children. We are seeking to expand our children’s ministry (K-6). A nursery is provided during the 10:30 Service...
What Do We Believe? THE BIBLE: The Bible is the sole authority on all matters of faith and life. In it we discover God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. One God, Three-in-One, the Trinity. Here we discover God’s loving purpose for our lives. We discover Jesus Christ as Savior for all people all over the world. He is the source for our forgiveness, and the guarantee of eternal life for everyone who believes in Him. Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, a historical figure, sent from God Himself because of His love for all the world, that the world might be saved through Him. He suffered, was crucified under the reign of Pontius Pilate, Roman Governor, died, and three days later rose again from the dead, then many days later ascended into Heaven. All this He did for us, to rescue us from sin and death, to give us a purpose and meaning for our lives, and He calls us to be a living, breathing expression of the love and life of Jesus Christ, to share Him with others in what we say and how we live our lives. The Holy Spirit, sent by Christ, calls me through the Word, the Gospel, convinces of sin, and convinces me of the truth of Jesus Christ as Savior and the one who forgives so that I am able to respond by believing. This same Holy Spirit gathers us together into a faith community known as a Church. As a believer, the Holy Spirit gives us gifts we can use to serve Him, and continually works in the life of the believer, through the Word of God, to greater and greater faith. Because of Christ, and one’s trust in Him, one has a new life. To all who receive Him, who believe in his name, they are given power to become children of God. (John 1:12) They are given a new birth “from above.” (John 3:7).
